The Hyannis International Film Festival is an idea whose time has come. The festival will bring visitors from all over the world to vibrant Hyannis, Cape Cod’s largest town, to enjoy a multi-day film event in the Fall that will fill the streets with filmmakers and film lovers and become a cultural mainstay.
- An international film competition for feature length and short films with entries coming from all over the world through online film festival submission platforms Film Freeway and Without A Box. (screenings at Main Venue)
- A separate showcase for regional filmmakers featuring films made in New England. (screenings at Main Venue and other locations, including outdoor screenings)
- Year-round film and filmmaking education, consisting of speakers, panels, workshops and screenings. (Main Venue and other locations)
At present there is no downtown Hyannis movie theater. An independent movie theater on or near Main Street would bring year-round business to downtown Hyannis and could serve as the main venue for HIFF each year.
There were 2 movie theaters in Hyannis in days gone by.
Maybe there will be one again soon…
